Business Minds Coffee Chat

May 19, 2022

Dr. Bob Lefkowitz, Nobel Prize winning scientist, biochemist, researcher, author, and professor at the Duke University Medical Center joins me on this episode.

Dr. Lefkowitz and Brian K. Kobilka won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering the inner workings of G-protein-coupled receptors, gateways to cells that react to chemical messages. Dr. Lefkowitz's discoveries have had a significant impact on the development of new drugs. Nearly half of all prescription drugs are designed to engage the receptors that Dr. Lefkowitz identified.

We talk about Bob's origin story, finding his calling for being a physician, becoming a scientist during the Vietnam War, processing and learning from failure, the experience of winning the Nobel Prize, how his memoir came to be, and more.
